Position Overview

We are seeking a Structural Engineering Operations Manager to lead and optimize our structural engineering team. This role blends technical expertise with operational leadership, ensuring both high-quality engineering work and efficient project execution. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can manage a team of 6-8 engineers, streamline workflows, oversee project execution, and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Team & Operations Management:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of eight structural engineers, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve team efficiency, project workflows, and resource allocation.
• Monitor team performance, set clear expectations, and provide regular feedback and coaching.

Project & Quality Oversight:

• Oversee structural design, analysis, and detailing for multiple projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company best practices.
• Establish and maintain quality control processes, reviewing and approving engineering calculations, reports, and drawings.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance consistency and efficiency.
• Optimize the use of engineering software and tools (e.g., TEDDs, Risa, RAM, Revit) to improve productivity.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop long-term operational strategies that align with business goals.

Client & Stakeholder Coordination:

• Act as a key liaison between clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring smooth project execution.
• Lead project planning meetings, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure clear communication across all stakeholders.

Strategic Planning & Growth:

• Contribute to business development initiatives, helping to expand service offerings and improve operational efficiency.
• Support hiring and onboarding efforts to build and retain a strong engineering team.

Qualifications:

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 8-10 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in a management or operational leadership role.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven experience optimizing workflows, improving processes, and managing engineering teams.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., TEDDs, Risa, RAM, Revit).
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
