Salary: $70,000 /annually
Location: Oakdale, CA
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am-4pm
Job Description: The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of structural steel fabrication and erection drawings, ensuring they meet the required design specifications, codes, and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of steel construction, fabrication processes, and erection techniques and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing detailed drawings and plans for structural steel components using CAD software
- Review and analyze design documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and specifications
- Maintain accurate records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation
- Support the team in conducting site visits to gather measurements and assess project needs
- Participate in quality control processes to ensure all documents meet industry standards
Education: HS Diploma
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in reviewing or preparing structural steel fabrication and erection drawings, preferably in construction or engineering firms.
- Must have structural steel/Steel background.
- Certification in Structural Steel or related fields.
- Experience with 3D modeling or BIM (Building Information Modeling).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting structural steel drawings.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel design codes and standards (e.g., AISC, AWS).
- Familiarity with drafting software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, or similar.
- Understanding of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and erection methods.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on ensuring drawing accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
- Ability to identify and resolve design discrepancies, conflicts, and constructability issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with engineering teams, project managers, and clients.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
