Position Overview:
The Estimator position is responsible for identifying, reviewing, and bidding on projects, ensuring quotes are compliant with terms and conditions of plans and specifications. Prepares comprehensive job analysis, proposals and bid preparation for contracting prospects. Utilizes value engineering principles, with the customer in mind, while using costing knowledge of company services in analyzing job requirements.
- Acquire profitable work by preparing and submitting competitive, high-quality bids.
- Thoroughly analyze plans, specifications, and project documentation to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates, factoring in labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment.
- Develop comprehensive cost budgets during the bidding process to support financial planning.
- Ensure complete bid coverage by managing subcontractor and supplier relationships, collecting quotes, and verifying scope inclusions.
- Apply value engineering to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining project integrity.
- Lead bid reviews to refine estimating strategies, analyze bid tabulations, and apply lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with field personnel and project managers to clarify scope, support operational transitions, and participate in change order reviews.
- Train and mentor junior estimators, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.
- Stay current with industry trends by attending software training, industry education sessions, and construction seminars.
