We are recruiting a Substances/Materials Compliance Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.



Key Responsibilities of the Substances/Materials Compliance Engineer:



• Ensuring compliance with /European/international regulations and company standards/policies/strategies related to substances and materials.

• Working alongside Materials Regulations, Compliance and Sustainability section

Cross-functionally working across the complete business (R&D, Manufacturing, After-sales) on a global basis to support Parts Design, Vehicle Development and Materials Testing/Validation.

• Coordinating the gathering and the validation of substances and materials composition information of Automotive vehicles and parts.

• Monitoring compliance with regulations related to substances (POP, REACH, CLP) and materials (ELV, RRR).

• Controlling vehicle interior air quality by testing materials, parts, and vehicles for their emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

• Securing the modification of articles and chemicals towards the use of suitable substances and materials with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

• Presenting vehicle compliance status reports to senior management in accordance with vehicle development milestones.



Qualifications & Experience for the Substances/Materials Compliance Engineer:



• Have 5 years’ experience in industry and successful experience in relation with compliance or regulatory activities, preferably applied to substances and materials.

• Be degree qualified (or equivalent) in chemistry / materials science.

• Knowledge of International Material Data System (IMDS)

• Knowledge of iPoint softwares (iPoint Compliance Agent and its modules)

• Be able to demonstrate and have practical experience in problem solving tools and techniques.

• Competent with PC applications including Microsoft excel and Microsoft project.

• Have ability to prioritise and multitask between multiple projects simultaneously.

• Be self-motivating and self-managing. Pro-active. Positive. Energetic personality and flexible regarding working practice and working hours.

• Be able to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, but on rare occasions travel may be long distance and or at short notice.

• Valid UK/European driving licence is MUST.

• Monday to Friday

• 39 hours per week

• £27.00p/h
