Job Title: Summer 2025 Mechanical Engineering
Pay Range: $25-$30 an hr.
Fixed Term: 5 weeks, 40 hours/week on-site
Relocation not offered, must be a local candidate.

Role Summary:
SPT Microtechnologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering to assist our engineering team in the design and development of robot test equipment. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and engineering documentation within a dynamic and innovative environment. The ideal candidate will be a current university student or recent graduate with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and proficiency in SolidWorks.
Job Responsibilities:

Create 3D CAD models of robot test equipment components and assemblies using SolidWorks.

Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses and perform basic structural calculations.

Develop engineering drawings, including assembly drawings, part drawings, and schematics, adhering to industry standards and company specifications.

Assist in the design and prototyping of mechanical components for test fixtures and equipment.

Collaborate with engineers to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and performance.

Maintain accurate and organized CAD files and documentation.

Assist in the procurement of materials and components as needed.

Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on design concepts.

Support the engineering team with other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Currently pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering degree with a focus on robotics
Required skills:

Proficiency in SolidWorks is required.

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Basic understanding of robotic systems is a plus.

Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in a standard office environment, including sitting for extended periods, using computers, and attending meetings.

Ability to work in a laboratory or manufacturing environment, which may involve standing for extended periods, walking, and occasional lifting or carrying of light to moderate weight materials (up to 30 lbs).

May require occasionally climbing ladders or stairs to access equipment or work areas.
