The role of the 2nd Shift Supervisor is to manage the operation, which includes the three production departments and the maintenance personnel. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have managerial experience in Thermoforming and Injection Molding of plastic and plastic sheet Extrusion.

The 2nd Shift Supervisor will lead and instruct all associates, specifically the department lead technicians. The position will monitor key metrics daily and include productivity, run-time, efficiency, quality, and safety.

A successful candidate will exhibit a high mechanical aptitude, sense of urgency, ability to make real-time decisions and guidance of associates (leadership) in regard to machine run-time, equipment setup, maintenance, and general troubleshooting.

Major Work Duties

  • Responsible for meeting daily/weekly/monthly shift production goals regarding productivity, runtime, and efficiency.
  • Recommends new methods and best practices designed to improve efficiency to the Management Team.
  • Communicates and works closely with various departments to follow up on needs and issues as needed (i.e., Extrusion – material issues, Maintenance – major machine repair, Tooling – tooling issues and adjustments)
  • Conducts technician training/cross training in equipment operations, work procedures, and safety.

Reporting Responsibilities

  • Provides daily reports to the Production Manager and Management Team as directed.

People Responsibilities

  • Team Engagement of shift Technicians in each department.
  • Handles behavior modification and coaching/mentoring opportunities as needed on the shop floor.

Training

  • Completes training in a timely manner as directed by the Production Manager and Management Team.
  • Provides hands-on training (by example) as needed with new and current technicians.

Quality

  • Responsible for checking quality attributes in products both at the start, during, and end of the shift and by monitoring periodically (hourly) throughout the shift.

Safety

  • Train technicians in safe work practices.
  • Must always demonstrate safe work practices.

QAD

  • Using QAD to monitor production reporting for accuracy (i.e., downtime codes), look for trends and areas for improvement.
  • Completing roll stock backflushing process and monitoring the backflushing process of each technician (machine operator)

Work Schedules

  • 2nd Shift-2:30pm-11:30pm

Process Improvement

  • Will assist the Production manager and Management Team with suggestions and processes to improve the efficiency and productivity of the equipment and machines.

Communication

  • Responsible for frequent and ongoing communication with all machine technicians, Production Manager and Management Team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ yrs. experience in a Production Supervisory role.
  • 3+ yrs. in the Plastics/Rubber industry (, but not required)
  • Math and basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams), Microsoft Outlook (email), and data entry.
  • Experience in a leadership role with team engagement is required.
  • In depth experience in thin-wall, high speed thermoforming plastic processes with a minimum of (3-5 years) is .
  • Certified Plastics Technician (SPI/SPE) would be a boost to candidacy.
  • Attendance is critical to the position's success and must be able to work up to 6 days a week or variable schedules in peak and nonpeak season.
  • Works closely with set-up technicians to ensure efficient and effective transition to production for efficiency and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Manage, direct technicians, and perform housekeeping on equipment as needed.

Schedule:

  • Afternoon shift, 2:30PM to 11:30PM
  • Weekends as needed
