Job Title: Survey CAD Technician
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid)
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Survey CAD Technician to join a dynamic team in the civil engineering and surveying industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar software, with a strong ability to produce accurate and comprehensive construction plans and surveys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic mathematical calculations, including pipe slopes, areas, and volumes.
- Create and detail construction plans by processing raw data from designers.
- Adhere to CAD standards, conventions, and guidelines to ensure consistency in work products.
- Review and verify plans for accuracy and completeness.
- Generate and process existing and proposed profiles, site plans, and utility layouts with minimal supervision.
- Import survey data into Civil 3D and produce boundary, topographical, ALTA, and as-built surveys.
- Plot legal descriptions for parcels, easements, and rights-of-way.
- Generate stake-out coordinates and plot information for field crews.
- Utilize station-offset methods for setting points.
- Estimate man-hours required for CAD project completion.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of full-time professional CAD experience in a related field.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015, MicroStation V8, or GeoPAK is .
- Education:
- High school diploma required; an associate degree in a related field is .
- At least 5 years of civil engineering/surveying drafting experience may substitute for education requirements.
- A minimum of 40 hours of additional field experience is .
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of the metric system and ability to convert between metric and English measurements.
- Proficiency in reading and creating simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients, customers, and team members in one-on-one or small group settings.
- Problem-solving skills using industry-standard tools and methods.
