We are currently searching for a motivated Survey Crew Chief to support our East Gulf Region. Located in Alabama or Tennessee OR willing to relocate to one of our offices in either state.
The Survey Crew Chief position reports to the Survey Project Manager. This position will require overnight travel and working outside in all weather conditions. Applicant must be able to pass a drug and background test to obtain security badge clearance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervises a crew which conducts field surveys as defined by the project manager
- Accomplishes majority of survey tasks with limited interaction with supervisors and/or Land Surveyors
- Communicates effectively with, and meets the needs of the client representative, governing agent and public representatives involved in each project; keeps the client field representative informed as to progress and problems and notifies when job is complete
- Communicates effectively with project manager as to project progress, problems, client change requests and job completion
What you need to have:
- 5+ years of experience working on a survey crew with ability to lead crew
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in construction staking, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys
- Construction and boundary experience is
- Gas pipeline surveying experience is
- Ability to demonstrate organizational skills, including attention to detail
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
