Sustainability Manager

Kilnbridge are a leading engineering and construction solutions business, undertaking some of the most demanding and diverse construction projects in the UK.

We are looking for a Sustainability Advisor to assist our Head of Sustainability in driving positive environmental and social change, contributing to the advancement of our sustainability strategy.

* Bring to the attention of the Project Director, Head of Sustainability and Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Director and the relevant Project Managers environmental issues which do not conform to current statutory, company or client requirements.

* Monitor and ensure that individual contracts/projects are established with the correct procedures to enable compliance with company and client requirements for environmental & sustainability issues

* Ensure all targets and commitments (legal, client and Kilnbridge) are being delivered.

* Liaisons with client representatives to ensure client requirements are adhered to.

* Liaison with the individual project/site managers involved within each work location/activity to ensure that adequate environmental procedures are identified and established.

* Monitoring the environmental & sustainability compliance by means of regular inspections and reviews and report as required.

* Provide support and guidance regarding environmental data reporting on a regular basis as required ensuring this is accurate and relative with the overall central data.

* Provide environmental & sustainability input in planning work activities.

* Ensure that significant environmental risks and opportunities are identified and documented within project documentation, along with the control measures to be implemented to mitigate or manage the identified risks effectively.

* Support project teams and the supply chain in achieving sustainability goals by developing project control plans, including waste management and emergency response plans.

* Ensure that a proactive approach is adopted to constructively support contract/project management teams.

* Advise the project teams on all environmental & sustainability issues including feeding into applications such as section 61, trade effluent consents and manage compliance.

* Ensure any other applicable statutory notifications are in place and manage compliance.

* Contribute to the company EMS continuous development.

* Actively promote environmental & sustainability issues.

* Deliver environmental & sustainability training where required.

* Develop and deliver campaigns and monitor the effectiveness of these to raise awareness of environmental & sustainability issues.

* Integrate environmental best practice into business and project delivery through education and influence

* Providing regular reports on the status of contract/project including BREEAM evidence performance and compliance statements.

* Support in implementing the Kilnbridge sustainability agenda.

* Represent Kilnbridge at industry forums, client presentations, and working group meetings.

* Engage regularly with clients and consultants by sharing knowledge, providing updates, offering insights, and presenting case studies.

* Where possible, identify and assist in delivering energy and carbon saving opportunities, driving improvements and better outcomes.

* Promoting resource efficiency and providing guidance and support for the development of resource-saving practices

* Input into initiatives from conception to implementation on a range of sustainability issues on site, particularly carbon, circular economy, and responsible sourcing.

* Contribute to the calculation and tracking of the bottom-line impact of sustainability interventions.

* Supporting the drive for Kilnbridge to leave an enduring legacy on our infrastructure and built environment, improving the way people live and work.

* Any other reasonable environmental sustainability tasks.

KEY COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS

* Environmental Management qualification -educated to degree level

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar role.

* Sustainability Certification e.g. BREEAM

* Exceptional customer service skills

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

* Strong knowledge of the waste regulations with the ability to analyse and interpret lab data

* In depth understanding and knowledge of Environmental requirements on a construction site

* Excellent presentation skills

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainability, have a good understanding of current legislation and sustainable construction practices, with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and develop actionable insights.
