Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Aircraft Systems Engineer in the Production Sustaining Engineering department is to provide engineering support and troubleshooting guidance for all certified Cirrus products (current and legacy). Secondary responsibilities include but are not limited to design for reliability improvement, design for manufacturability and/or serviceability improvement, customer satisfaction improvement, and component obsolescence support. The Aircraft Systems Engineer must be able to run small and medium sized projects, coordinate internally across multiple engineering disciplines, and work together with outside vendors.

This position will be located in Duluth, MN.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Investigation and testing of aircraft systems and equipment, including:
    • Requirements development and traceability
    • Research and identification of potential solutions to design objectives
    • Test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on both bench and aircraft
    • Detailed design and implementation
  • Coordinate design development and system integration within Cirrus and with suppliers
  • Generate robust test plans and reports that will be used to meet FAR Part 23 requirements
  • Investigate and troubleshoot aircraft systems issues reports from production environment
  • Support the production team in addressing systems issues on current aircraft

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field required
  • Experience with aircraft systems development processes and requirements traceability
  • Aircraft system design, integration, installation, testing and certification experience
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft, automotive, or consumer electrical and avionics systems desired
  • Experience with data acquisition system development and application desired
  • FAA certification experience

Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to interpret various forms of data and use the information to determine cause and justify solutions to issues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
