The System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical infrastructure and systems as part of the shared services group which supports Holiday Oil Stores, Cottonwood Distribution, Holiday Trucking, and Granger Services.

Duties and responsibilities

• Ensure all elements of our hardware, software, and network components work cohesively.
• Design scalable, secure, and robust IT solutions, including hardware, software, and network systems.
• Install, configure, and test new systems and applications.
• Manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Ensure the stability, efficiency, and integrity of systems, networks, and software.
• Develop and implement system architectures and configurations that align with business needs.
• Implement security protocols to protect systems from breaches and vulnerabilities.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies.
• Participate in planning and execution of IT projects, including migrations, upgrades, and deployments.
• Ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of all hardware, software, and network components across the organization.
• Maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations and procedures.
• Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices, ensuring continuous connectivity and security.
• Monitor and optimize system performance, guaranteeing the stability, efficiency, and integrity of critical systems, networks, and software.
• Maintain detailed and up-to-date system documentation, including architectural diagrams, configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide proactive recommendations and support for continuous improvement in IT processes and workflows.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and ensure backup systems are functioning properly.
• Assist in resolution of escalated help desk tickets

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.
• 7+ years in a system engineering or similar IT role.
• Strong technical skills in system design, scripting, monitoring, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience with Windows, Linux and MacOS server environments.
• Analytical thinking to diagnose and address complex system issues.
• Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Relevant IT certifications are a plus.
• Experience with VMWare environment a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• NDA signature required for confidentiality.
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to submit to ongoing MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) monitoring.
