Systems Engineer

Overview Systems Engineering Consultant Position Type Contract Location North West Categories Engineering EC&I Responsibilities PM Group requires Systems Engineering support on a manufacturing site specializing in the manufacture of building products based in the North West. Responsibilities Maintain all aspects of process control and systems relevant to the manufacturing process. Execute such projects as identified by the Maintenance Manager Support the Electrical Engineer in his absence. Develop and implement automation systems for manufacturing process. Design control systems, including PLC, SCADA, and DCS, to optimise plant performance. Create and maintain detailed documentation for all automation projects. Oversee the installation and commissioning of automation systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Coordinate with external contractors / vendors. Assist in implementation of capital projects from conception to hand over of a working system. Assist with the building and commissioning of virtual machines. Programming and set up of CCTV systems Perform regular maintenance and updates on automation systems. Diagnose and resolve issues related to control systems and instrumentation. Provide technical support to plant operations and maintenance teams. Assist with RCA investigations. Maintain process network and leasing with IT to ensure system is reliable and up to date. Ensure all automation systems comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures. Working knowledge of process instrumentation and calibration of, e.g. load cells for weigh systems, level control devices, PID controllers, etc Understand the Provision Use Works Equipment Regulations (1992) Work with safety critical control systems and associated interlocks (electrical [Pilz] and mechanical [Castel/Fortress]) Where applicable understand programming/fault rectification on PLC systems associated with works, e.g. Siemens S7 and associated top level SCADA Assist in implementation of capital projects from conception to hand over of a working system. Comply with Company IMS procedures. To liaise with supervisors on technical and safety issues. Assist in the development of a spare parts strategy which best suits plant operation. The position involves occasional weekend and night working as necessary, particularly during projects and unplanned repairs, the position will require flexible working depending upon this. Qualifications Qualifications HNC or degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Proficient in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and SCADA systems. Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.) Experience with DCS and HMI development and troubleshooting Knowledge of process control principles and instrumentation Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
