This position supports tasking at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Program Executive Office, Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO(U&W)), located in Patuxent River, MD. The selected candidate will support the Air Vehicle team by performing analyses and executing projects involving engineering, testing, training, production, and sustainment issues. Tasks will include requirements analysis and traceability, problem/deficiency reporting, Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) tracking, researching technical solutions, conducting analyses of alternatives, and recommending courses of action. You will also interface with a variety of technical and program personnel to ensure the successful execution of program objectives.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply systems engineering products and analyses to support requirement development, acquisition, deployment, and sustainment of unmanned aviation systems and associated autonomous functions/systems

  • Support airworthiness certification of the air vehicle and installed systems

  • Support airspace integration of new systems as they are deployed

  • Lead and manage multifunctional teams, ensuring the successful integration of complex systems

  • Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff

  • Develop, coordinate, track, and manage the execution of Air Vehicle and Ground Control Station (GCS) Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)

  • Conduct technology trade studies to research, analyze, and evaluate various options, documenting results to determine the best value solution for specific problems

  • Perform engineering investigations of considerable complexity to resolve technical issues

  • Review literature, patents, and current practices to inform solutions for assigned projects

  • Oversee the completion and implementation of system enhancements, recommending technical corrections and improvements to management
     

Basic Qualifications:
 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively complex systems design, acquisition, and test experience, including complex (hardware/software) aviation/aerospace systems integration.

Clearance:

  • An active secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret, or ability to obtain and maintain the required clearance. Contract requires US citizenship.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering .

  • Certification in Systems Engineering

  • Experience with FAA or military airworthiness certification

  • Experience with NAVAIR Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) Process

  • Familiarity with DoD aviation development, production, sustainment, and/or testing

  • Knowledge of U.S. Government, DoD, and/or USN correspondence development practices, along with the ability to write formal engineering reports and construct briefing materials using MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Demonstrated experience at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)

  • Previous experience with military avionics systems

  • Previous experience with unmanned aviation systems, particularly the MQ-9A

  • Experience with military aviation systems, either manned or unmanned
     

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

40 hours/week

Compensation:

$155,500 - $233,200

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation.

Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
