Systems Engineer Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Systems Engineer to join our IT team. This role is responsible for managing and securing both Microsoft 365 services and cloud infrastructure, ensuring a seamless and secure IT environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Microsoft 365 administration (including Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Automate, and email security solutions) as well as Azure cloud infrastructure, hybrid environments, Azure ARC, and patch management.


This role requires a strong technical background in both M365 and cloud infrastructure, along with excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple complex projects. The candidate will play a key role in supporting hybrid and cloud-first strategies, maintaining security, optimizing performance, and enabling business continuity.

Responsibilities


Cloud Infrastructure & Security

  • Design, manage, and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring security, scalability, and high availability.
  • Implement and support Azure ARC, providing unified management across hybrid cloud environments.
  • Develop cloud-first strategies and assist in hybrid cloud migrations to Azure.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure, ensuring performance, cost efficiency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Implement & security best practices within Azure AD, IAM, and conditional access policies.
  • Manage patching and update strategies for Azure workloads and hybrid environments.
  • Develop and enforce cloud governance policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Microsoft 365 Administration & Security

  • Administer & optimize M365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Manage & enhance email security solutions (e.g., Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Proofpoint, Mimecast) to protect against threats.
  • Oversee Intune for device security, compliance, and endpoint management across the organization.
  • Develop automation workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes.
  • Ensure M365 data governance & compliance, including DLP (Data Loss Prevention), retention policies, and security best practices.

General IT & Operations

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and M365 issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT initiatives and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and policies.
  • Stay current on industry trends and recommend new tools and best practices to enhance security and performance.

Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience managing Azure cloud infrastructure and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint security and compliance.
  • Experience in patch management and updating strategies across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Experience with data governance & compliance in both M365 and Azure (e.g., Microsoft Purview, DLP policies, retention policies).

Skills

  • Proficiency in Azure services, including Azure ARC, Azure AD, cloud security, and hybrid management.
  • Strong expertise in email security solutions and best practices.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation in M365 and Azure.
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPNs, ExpressRoute, and Zero Trust security models.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert

  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Fundamentals
