We seek a qualified Systems Engineer/Innovation Specialist (Mid-Level) in Arlington, VA.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity in the greater Washington, DC, for a mid-level Systems Engineer focusing on Innovation, Digital transformation, System-of-Systems Engineering (SoSE), DevSecOps, and the future of Digital warfighting. The Systems Engineer will serve in a cross-functional role supporting various Digital/SoS efforts across Naval program offices and DoDx innovation. On-site (Government site) performance in Washington, DC up to 50 percent.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Providing engineering and technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems to meet technical requirements.
  • Making recommendations and advising on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
  • Performing risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques.
  • Provide technical assistance and subject matter expertise to Naval innovation projects; provide consultation on complex projects and support Naval customers as the top-level specialist.
  • Support review and update of Congressional documents, white papers, technical analyses, technology surveys, innovation transition strategies, and procurement models.
  • Generate and deliver timely status updates, weekly reports, and briefing materials as required.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in relevant Engineering field with at least eight (8) years applicable experience in Naval systems or components; or, Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field and at least ten (10) years applicable experience in Naval systems or components.
  • Prior Naval technical design and integration experience with strong in-depth knowledge of Navy systems from system design up through integration, test, and fielding.
  • Prior DoDx innovation experience with organizations like DUIx, AFWERX, AAL, Army Futures, SBIR/STTR, MIU, MCWL, ONR/NRL, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Active DOD Top Secret Clearance or higher
  • Familiarity with MagicDraw, Cameo, or other systems modeling tools
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), and DoD program planning

Travel Requirements:

  • 25% CONUS travel to relevant DoD facilities
