Job Description

We are seeking a team member with strong technical research background to provide technical advice and project management on novel machine learning and signal processing programs at DARPA in Arlington, VA. As a Systems Engineer, you will provide technical project research, development and oversight, while relying on your technical experience to provide insight, guidance and technical direction. You will provide technical writing and brief development, cost analysis of proposed research and development activities and coordination with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have experience with one or more technologies including signal processing with knowledge of detection and estimation theory, machine learning, stochastic control and optimization combined with experience in at least one of the following areas: radio frequency systems, analog hardware, and antennas.

100% onsite with flexible work schedule through occasional remote telework and/or alternative work schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and guide technical reports, briefings, and other technical communications
  • Shape technical research project development
  • Development of technical analyses, identification of technology gaps, technical risk management and project cost estimation
  • Engage stakeholders and collaborators across various DoD agencies and services
  • Prepare DARPA work products including presentations and reports

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with systems engineering and/or radio frequency based signal processing or machine learning technologies or systems.
  • A Master's Degree in physics, engineering or mathematics or equivalent work experience.
  • US
  • Active or in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Access required (or active Top Secret with ability to obtain SCI Access)

Experience:

  • Prior experience working programs at DARPA as a technical support contractor.
  • Knowledge of DARPA processes and procedures .
  • Demonstrated program management expertise, preferably as a project lead.
  • Expertise and strong interest in the above technical areas.
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas needed to broadly support program goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests.
  • Flexible and readily adaptable to change.
  • Familiarity with DARPA technical, programmatic, and contractual environment.
