This is a role
well suited for a highly motivated student looking to build their skill set and
gain hands-on experience. With direction and mentorship from Senior Engineers,
the
Systems Engineering - Design Characterization and Reliability Intern works closely with Systems Engineering team members to learn
about Laboratory Diagnostic Immunoassay and Clinical Chemistry System and
Subsystem technology and functionality. 
Specifically, the Systems Engineering Intern’s responsibilities include
:

  • You will design, develop, test, and integrate semi-complex Subsystem Test
    Fixtures to support feasibility, characterization, reliability, and integration
    testing during new product development.
  • You will interface with System, Mechanical, Electrical and Software Teams
    to deploy best Design for Reliability best practices to support the creation of
    test plans/reports and protocols to support design characterization and
    reliability testing.
  • You will support design characterization and reliability testing to further
    understand subsystem design characteristics (ex. Design life, motion
    parameters, etc.).
  • You will assist with failure troubleshooting and support structured root
    cause analysis for failure modes observed during subsystem design.
  • You will assist in the analysis
    of theoretical and experimental test data to influence data driven design
    decisions.

  • You have
    good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You work
    well with cross-functional teams, participate in team meetings, and
    prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience
    with SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Matlab, LabVIEW) is a plus.
  • You have a
    learning mindset and are eager to learn about new technology (Hardware and
    Software).


Required skills and education to have for the
success of this role:

  • Currently
    enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, majoring in Biomedical
    Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical
    Engineering.
  • Minimum 3.0
    GPA (preferred)


Start Date: Summer 2024


The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.70 hourly; however, base pay offered may vary depending on education, skills, and experience. Siemens Healthineers offers interns paid time off.
