Team Leader Engineering Wind Plants
ContourGlobal is an established Independent Power Producer developing, acquiring, and operating electricity generation assets worldwide. The company currently manages more than 6.2 GW of installed capacity across different generation technologies in 18 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America. With a current share of renewables capacity of 27%, the company has committed to speed up the decarbonization of its portfolio with a sustainable transition of its thermal fleet, the repowering of existing renewable assets and the organic development of new renewable projects. ContourGlobal, a KKR company since , has a track record of almost 20 years of experience in partnering with communities, institutions, and customers that benefit from its power supply through long-term contracts or innovative PPAs, coupled with energy management solutions. The Team Leader Engineering wind plants will develop wind plant designs, using energy yield, wind resources assessments, grid and road access options, layout optimization and state of the art component configurations in multiple design iterations to determine lowest cost of energy (LCOE) and will manage external engineering to review and optimize the final project design. Cooperate strictly with the development and construction team and the procurement office for the success of the project. He/she will be key in evaluating greenfield projects to be developed/acquired and EPC contractors design in order to optimize the final outcome. This key member of the Engineering team embodies curiosity and creativity, innovating constantly to optimize IRR through multiple tools and deep knowledge of latest technology trends. He/she is an optimization evangelist who truly enjoys a creative and driven approach to building high value wind farms. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Development and Implementation Prepare preliminary project planning for the repowering of the existing wind farms and greenfield projects which includes locations of possible wind turbines, road access and grid connection points . Create utility scale wind farm design, including equipment selection, yield calculations and forecasts, micro site studies and optimization to design the highest performing integrated systems. Cooperate with colleagues to optimize hybrid plants. For acquisition projects conduct engineering reviews and technical due diligence, including evaluation of system components, cables sizing, configuration, and environmental conditions to confirm reliable yield forecasts that optimize capacity, production, and cost. He/she reviews, comments and validate basic and preliminary design and any other engineering steps of the outsourced engineering company and the execution design issued by the EPC contractors. Identify latest wind technologies to maximize internal rate of return including components for electrical connection to the grid and other pertinent technologies. Cooperate with Procurement Function to assess the technical offers and proposals to ensure compliance with the requirements of the project and the comparability between all the offers to select the best value for money components and services. Support the Development and Construction team to solve technical issues and modifications and visit the plants, once under construction to overview compliance with the design. Maintain appropriate documentation of technical data consistent with engineering best policies and practices. Confirm with industry standards to optimize project designs for constraints, including geography, schedule, scope and financial constraints. Prepare other technical documents, reports, and calculations as necessary. Build a small team to support the above activities as the pipeline grows. Project Assessment Run various production estimates in pursuit of highest IRR using specialized software tools, as input for financial models. Develop energy yield assessments (EYAs) to aid in the optimization of high value projects. COMMIT TO OUR VALUES: Commit to CG values as expressed in the Essential Information.
