We are recruiting an experienced
Technical Director - Offshore Wind and Marine Energy
to join our Environment & Sustainability business and deliver our increasing portfolio of offshore wind and marine
renewables and net zero projects
plus marine fibre optic cables for the
high tech industry . As we are a team, we are flexible in terms of office location. However, do get in touch if this does not work for you because, for the right candidate, we'll explore other options. We would welcome interest from candidates looking for either a part-time or full-time position.
AECOM is working on a number of offshore wind, interconnector and port consent applications and energy is a global growth priority sector for us. You will lead our growing team and be responsible for continued growth and delivery of existing and new projects in this important market.
As a
Technical Director
you'll lead consenting inputs to large-scale development projects that are transforming our infrastructure. We are particularly seeking candidates with experience in:
Leading and delivering:
DCOs and Marine Consents, with a technical background in EIA, stakeholder engagement or planning for the marine sector;
Business Development:
leading the growth of the sector through engagement with existing and potential clients, identifying opportunities for growth and leading winning tenders.
As a
Technical Director
you'll direct the day-to-day project manager for marine projects. You will also play an instrumental role in helping to seek out and secure new commissions, and be actively engaged in client relationship management.
You will work daily with our established Environmental Impact, Planning and Stakeholder teams. You will work collaboratively with our engineering teams to deliver a sector approach to business development and project delivery. You will:
Lead:
multidisciplinary consenting inputs across a wide range of projects, supporting projects to gain consent.
Direct:
the preparation of reports such as environmental assessments and other reports required to support marine consents. Direct resources, delegating activities, monitoring and managing project budgets (with support as applicable).
Collaborate:
Work as part of integrated design teams deliver benefits across the engineering and consenting aspects of projects. Working in partnership with internal supply teams and members of the wider business.
Client engagement:
Lead business opportunities and associated and technical proposal development.
Grow:
lead the growth of the marine sector resulting in increased market share.
Mentor:
Supporting staff development and mentoring.
Champion:
Promoting AECOM's environmental services to both internal and external audiences.
If you do not currently have this experience, we are also happy to help you move into this sector if you have an interest to diversify and transition your skillset and your skills are transferable.
Qualifications

Here's what we're looking for:
Experience of leading consultancy services.
An excellent understanding of the consenting and licensing regimes and processes, with a technical background in either environmental assessment, planning, stakeholder engagement or similar.
Confidence when engaging with a wide variety of stakeholder groups and clients.
The ability to work collaboratively as part of an established team, leading inputs from specialist technical teams.
Excellent verbal and report writing skills, including technical reviewing.
Project management skills, including programming, staff resource management and budget management.
A degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably a Masters degree) and an appropriate professional membership.
