Technical Sales Manager - Timber Frames / Trusses / Joists

£45,000 - £55,000 + Car allowance, Bonus and Benefits

Yorkshire (Hybrid)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic and passionate Technical Sales Manager to join our clients' growing business.

Our client is a timber engineering company, operating throughout Yorkshire and the north of England; with a well-deserved reputation for fabricating quality engineered products.

They have a wealth of experience in the construction industry and a proven track record in the timber frame, roof truss and engineered flooring sectors.

They need someone who is pro-active and able to support the business and to develop a high quality customer base, which is essential for the next phase of business development.

To succeed in this Technical Sales Manager role, you will need to demonstrate high levels of self-motivation, tenacity, and resilience. The successful candidate will also have a genuine desire to add value, challenge the norm and have a real passion to win business and manage key accounts.

Technical Sales Manager Role & Responsibilities:

You will be an experienced Sales professional working alongside the Commercial Manager and Estimators generating enquiries, chasing up quotations, negotiating contracts for timber frame, roof trusses and engineered joists to the main contractors, house builders and self-builders.

You will be a skilled influencer, negotiator, and relationship builder who is able to easily create solid lasting relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.

  • Research the market to find possible new business opportunities
  • Make contact with new customers with a view to obtaining enquiries.
  • Effective relationship and key account management.
  • Work closely with the technical teams to offer technical support where needed.
  • Work with the estimating team to create quotations.
  • Follow up on quoted work.
  • Negotiate contract packages and prices with a view to closing sales.
  • Preparing successful contracts for handover to the design and project management team.
  • Virtual and face to face meetings as required with clients.

Technical Sales Manager Skills & Experience required:

  • Knowledge of the Construction industry, ideally with regards to Timber Engineering and off-site construction,
  • An understanding of the sales process and how to negotiate on price and package is important.
  • A proven background in customer facing and telephone-based sales.
  • Proven track record in commercial negotiation.
  • This role requires a mix of new business development and key account management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with a clear and confident telephone manner and the ability to sell to a range of customers. Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills, with experience of using a CRM system effectively.
