The ideal candidate for the position of Technical Tig Welder will have strong fundamental knowledge of TIG (GTAW) welding best practices and the proven ability to weld thin gage sheet metal (26 – 18 gage) or thin wall tubing (.020”w - .049”w). They should have a strong mechanical aptitude, coupled with the desire to acquire the specific skills required to excel in our unique manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Prepare CNC machined parts/assemblies for welding by cleaning and inspecting weld joints
· Set up and operate the auto-TIG welding lathe for production welding of thin wall SS tubing
· Weld finished machined parts/assemblies per manufacturing drawings and specifications
· Validate the quality of welded assemblies by using visual inspection criteria and helium leak detector
Required Skills:
· Ability to Autogenous TIG weld thin wall tubing
· Ability to effectively use precision measuring equipment such as Dial Calipers and Indicators
· Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions, drawings and blueprints
· Basic computer skills for time entry and document lookup
· Work independently or with minimum assistance
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma, GED, vocational welding training, combined with practical experience in manufacturing or other related fields
· One-year practical TIG welding experience,
