Job Title: TIG/MIG Welder
Job Type: Non-Exempt
Report to: Welding Mentor
Summary:
The Welder will learn how to weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. The welder will learn and be required to complete small/simple fabrications and large complex fabrications to specifications. The Welder is required to comply with all MPI policies and will be overseen by the welding mentor during the .
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and comprehend product blueprints and layouts to accurately fit structural parts together in shop in preparation to welding
- Understand American Welding Society standard symbols
- Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job
- Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
- Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage
- Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded
- Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of stainless steel, aluminum, and other structures
- Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by RMF standards
- Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings
- Utilize safety devices and wear all mandatory personal protective safety equipment
- Operates power tools
- Operate forklift if needed once certified
- Change gas tanks as needed
- Perform simple maintenance repairs as required
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered
- All other duties assigned
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Must be at least a senior in high school or college student and wanting to pursue a career in welding.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Time Management

- Basic understanding of basic mathematics
Ability to:
- Read blueprints
- Read measuring devices (Tape Measures, etc.)
- Read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Use proper personal protective equipment
