Tool Design Engineer
Summary
We are delighted to be working on behalf of a recognised innovator in the field of manufacturing and engineering, specialising in the design, development, testing and manufacture of integrated protective systems.
The Role:
Support the lead tooling engineer with mould tool design and sustaining functions, from design concept to production, ensuring efficiency and compliance with company procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop new moulds and tooling.
* Support legacy tooling maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
* Manage tooling assets and conduct tooling audits.
* Ensure tool design complies with health and safety legislation.
* Utilise Six Sigma principles to meet objectives and improve processes.
* Conduct process verifications using SPC data and prepare process improvement recommendations.
* Assist with training manufacturing personnel for new equipment and processes.
* Work closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment uptime.
* Evaluate and manage capex investments.
Education:
* Degree, HND, or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Polymer Technology, with rubber mould tool design experience.
Skills & Experience:
* Essential:
* Strong communication skills and technical knowledge of polymers and manufacturing processes.
* Analytical tool design experience and 3D CAD proficiency.
* Hands-on practical skills with a self-starter attitude.
* Desirable:
* Experience with SolidWorks, CAE, FEA techniques, and respirator product design.
* Prototyping and testing skills.
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years in tooling design and rubber moulding for production components.
