About the Role Works closely with divisional, customer, and supplier staff specialists to ensure the successful development and implementation of engineering changes, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, and projects which affect die tooling and stamping processes. Using project management skills and methodologies (APQP & CPMP), Tracks, records, and reports on project progress and identifies, investigates, and develops solutions for problems encountered during the project, in order to meet all critical deadlines. Responsible for all aspects of the project including cost estimating and processing, raw material integration, establishing equipment process parameters and working with staff specialists to launch product from raw material to finished packaging, from its inception through PPAP, production and beyond.Your Responsibilities Investigates die tooling work required for assigned engineering projects. Establishes and follows-up on full project implementation (concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, buy-off, prototype programs, etc.) and is responsible for project timing, quality and costs. Project scope to include entire stamping process – blanking, blank stacking, blank storage, blank feeding, stamping tooling, automation, part removal/unloading, part stacking, etc.Analyses, makes recommendations and provides technical support for the continuous improvement of divisional manufacturing projects and/or processes. Ensures that any changes to Bills of Material, tooling, and/or stamping processes are communicated to the appropriate departments and personnel. Assists Business Development Department in developing die tooling costs, stamping processes and other associated items for new product quotations. Prepares reports, charts, timing schedules, and other documentation (EC Sheet, Contract & Feasibility, checklists, Die/Weld sheets, etc.) required for engineering records and projects. Implements and practices APQP & CPMP procedures. Comes to work each day, as scheduled. Approaches each day and each challenge with a positive attitude. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive. Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environmental programs (eg. ISO/IATF-16949, ISO14001). Acts as liaison with customers and suppliers to anticipate and minimize the impact of design, tooling, material, and other engineering changes on the cost and capability of projects. Assist in the development of the Presstran Die Design Build Standards. Other duties as required. Who we are looking for Must be a certified Tool and Die Maker. Must have a minimum 5 years of experience in medium to large automotive stampings and tooling. Must have 2 - 5 years of experience coordinating and managing projects related to press/die automation for medium to large stampings. Must have experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, VA/VE, CAD and other automotive related activities. Must be proficient in Auto Cad related software and Microsoft Office (ie. Word, Excel, Project, etc.). Your preferred qualifications Proven leadership experience. Knowledge of, and familiarity with Presstran’s Die Build Standard is an asset. Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving, organizational, project and time management skills. Previous die/part processing and cost estimating would be considered a definite asset.
