Training Specialist - Engineering
JOB PURPOSE The Engineering Trainer is responsible for coordinating all engineering technical trainings, The role has a duty to develop training needs (by training needs analysis, etc.,), design, and implement the trainings programs, across engineering teams across the engineering functions. This role requires a deep understanding of beverage production and bottling processes, expert level competency in maintenance processes, engineering systems, and engineering safety standards, as well as strong technical and instructional skills. The Engineering Trainer will ensure that engineering personnel are well equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to maintain and improve our engineering and production systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for engineering staff, focusing on beverage production and bottling processes. Assess training needs and create customized training plans to address skill gaps and enhance technical competencies. Conduct hands-on training sessions, workshops, and seminars on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Maintain up-to-date training materials and documentation. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure training content is relevant and effective. Provide ongoing technical support, coaching, and mentorship to technical staff, on their competencies. Create and manage training schedules to ensure all engineering staff receive timely and relevant training. Conduct trainings on safety procedures and processes to ensure there are no competency gaps against full safety compliances. Analyse training outcomes and make recommendations for improvements to enhance training effectiveness. Coordinate external training providers, and facilitate with them to supplement internal training programs as needed. Keep detailed records of all training activities, including attendance, assessments, and certifications. Train staff on the operation and maintenance of new equipment and technologies introduced into the production process, to close competency gaps promptly. Create, subscribe, and manage online training modules to provide flexible learning opportunities for technical personnel. Continuously update inhouse competency matrix with new industry knowledge, and implement trainings for personnel to close the gap. EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS NABTEB, WAEC Technical, OND in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering. Minimum of 5 years experience in production and maintenance roles, preferably in the food and beverage industry. Good experience as a technical trainer, in a beverage, FMCG, or general manufacturing environments, with strong instructional and presentation skills. In-depth knowledge of beverage production and bottling equipment, Utilities processes, and safety standards. Proficiency in use of SAP PM, or other CMMS, and Microsoft Office. Ability to create engaging and effective training materials. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using training software and tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Certification in training and development or a related field. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS High level knowledge of maintenance and Utilities process and controls. Proficiency in data analysis and presentations. Proficiency in MS Office, PM SAP documentation and reporting. High planning and organizing capabilities. Collaboration and customer relationship skills. Safety standards, processes, and practices. Good ability to make training manuals.
