Transport Planner- Responsibilities Include

  • Responsibilities include overseeing the performance and evaluation of operational procedures and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Compliance Manager and SHEQ Manager to maintain and review all Transport department SSoW (Safe Systems of Work) and Risk assessments according to company protocols.
  • Conduct internal audits when necessary.
  • Analyse departmental near misses to identify and implement lessons learned and best practices.
  • Investigate departmental accidents/incidents/road traffic accidents (RTA), ensuring the distribution of final reports to the Transport & SHEQ Managers when required.
  • Enhance departmental performance to optimize efficiency in alignment with departmental KPIs.
  • Plan, execute, review, and manage all training needs for the Transport Driver Team, including the development of driver training materials that evolve with legislative and company requirements.
  • Regularly assess drivers, conduct performance reviews, and arrange additional training as necessary.
  • Ensure drivers comply with legal requirements, such as driver's license checks, and maintain training records to ensure their continual availability for company operations.
  • Monitor and manage vehicle telematics and driver tachographs using company systems.
  • Monitor driver hours to ensure compliance with legal obligations and address infringements with drivers as necessary.
  • Support the Fleet Compliance Manager in vehicle maintenance and driver education, adhering to Operator license requirements.
  • Regularly maintain and inspect all transport department vehicle equipment to minimize operational downtime.
  • Communicate and enforce company standards to staff at all levels.

Transport Planner- Desirables Include

  • Outstanding attention to accuracy and detail
  • Good communication both verbally and written with colleagues and members of the public.
  • At least 1 year of previous work history as either a Transport Planner or similar role within the transport or recycling industry
  • Ability to use a computer to a good standard for Word, Outlook, Excel, etc
  • Knowledge of Working Time Legislation & Driving Legislation

Schedule- 45 hours per week- 6am – 4pm or 8am – 6pm, with additional hours as needed with a Saturday rota
