Transportation Manager
Job Description Manage comprehensive logistics optimization initiatives tailored to meet the requirements of AbbVie's customers, as defined by local in-market commercial affiliates, while ensuring cost-effectiveness. Maintain KPIs for regional transportation providers and initiate improvement projects to address any shortcomings or to cultivate a continuous improvement mindset among providers. Lead Management Business Reviews with our logistic service providers Implement process changes that drive cost reductions and/or enhance service levels while maintaining the integrity of our products, such as reducing temperature excursions. Drive project that align with our sustainability road. Resolve operational issues in collaboration with suppliers, supply chain planning, affiliates, customers, and other stakeholders. Lead or support both large and small supply chain improvement projects that involve transportation. Build sustainable relationships with suppliers, peers and other stakeholders such as supply chain planning, affiliates, or quality assurance. Initiate and implement continuous improvement suggestions in coordination with internal or external parties. Document logistics processes in our training management tool and ensure the sustainability of procedures. Qualifications A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in areas such as distribution operations, transportation operations, and project management. Bachelor’s or University degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field. Broad business perspective, knowledge, and understanding of supply chain and logistics processes, with a proven track record of delivering air, ocean, and road transportation solutions while managing 3PLs performance. Experience with 4PLs is a plus. Experience in managing various TSPs, modes and temperature ranges in a regulated (GDP) environment. Experience in the food industry is also considered valuable. Proven experience working across geographies is very valuable. Held previous roles in a multinational manufacturing firm. Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, including managing regional/global transportation agreements. Ability to bring together diverse stakeholders, establish structured coordination, and a strong commitment to driving change. Knowledge of importing, exporting, and customs regulations. Organized and skilled in personal productivity tools and executive presentations, with proficiency in software tools such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Proficient in English. Ability to travel to Zwolle, Amsterdam, our CDC in Venlo or other suppliers/locations in the Netherlands and internationally.
