Transportation Technician I (Construction Engineering Inspection - CEI)
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionDRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING, and we're searching for new team members who are interested in Transportation Technician I opportunities.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Familiarity with the DOT Standard Specifications, Standard Drawings, and Construction Manual
- Communicate with the project manager daily.
- Effective communication skills with supervisors, DOT, and contractors.
- Ability to use and understand tools of the trades assigned.
- Must obtain measurements and report progress information in Daily Diaries.
- Performs on-site testing as needed.
- Familiarity with the plans and specifications for the job to be inspected.
- Check all materials before installation
- Identify issues/potential issues to the contractor and project engineer; Report progress of the project to project engineer and supervisor.
- Responsible for job-specific quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
- Responsible for driving a company vehicle to and from as well as on the client project
What you'll need
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
- High School Diploma Required, AAS Civil Engineering Technology .
- 2-3 years of progressive structure inspection level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment
- Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and other orders and to all company policies, procedures, and directives from supervisors.
- Must be able to become certified in DOT classes and maintain certifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
- Strong communication with the ability to resolve solutions in the field.
- Must be able to follow and carry out specific instructions on an independent basis
- Read and understand construction plans, blueprints, and maps.
- Must have basic math skills to compute quantities and costs when requested.
- Ability to interpret and implement company-mandated safety policies.
- Must be able to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
