We enable our customers to win through unique capabilities, global scale, and iconic brands including Corian®, Kevlar®, Nomex®, Tyvek®, Styrofoam™ and FILMTEC™.As part of our Tyvek® growth plan, we are seeking an IT Engineer / Data Scientist f/m who will support the R&D team in the flash spinning technology development as well as in product development and their introduction into the market.This hiring initiative represents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic empowered R&D team that applies a rich understanding of materials, polymer science, chemistry, physics, thermodynamics, chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering in a very diverse environment with the mission to develop nonwoven membrane solutions that protect people, property and critical products and processes from the hazards that threaten them. Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:High-Voltage corona applications and material tribologyStudy fundamental mechanisms of gas ionization, ion-drift, charge transfer in gaseous environments other than airDevelop numerical models describing above and propose experimental verification methodsPractical support for high-voltage applications, such as HV-insulation, instrumentation, etc. AerodynamicsDevelop models for high-speed compressible fluids (CFD) in constraint geometriesDevelop coupled models for competing phenomena between aerodynamics, ion-wind and electrostatic pinningSoftware development for lab equipment, research facilities and commercial assets (using Python, Visual Studio, C#, Java, LabVIEW, etc.)Automating / streamlining image capture and analysis (including embedding metadata and RAW-file conversion)Installation of inline LineScan cameras on production lines, implementing proprietary algorithms, including the development of in-house bulk-data statistical analysisDevelop and deploy predictive algorithm for enhanced quality control in commercial productionDefine and develop data-acquisition and -management infrastructure under minimum supervisionPartnering with engineers and technicians to apply data acquisition processes to other functions, such as application development and commercial productionPartnering with external consultants, vendors, and other entities to efficiently execute development programs and projects as neededWriting and communicating technical reports and presentationsThis job may require travel up to 10% of work time.Qualifications:MSc/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related disciplineStrong Software development backgroundCompetencies (required) :Conceptual and analytical thinkingAbility to conceive and portray overall needs and construct architecture for integrated solutionsIntellectual curiosity and personal drive for continuous learningCreativity, hands on, pragmatismInnovative and entrepreneurial initiativeExcellent communication and networking skillsStrong collaboration capacityLanguage: EnglishDesired additional qualifications:Professional experience is a plusKnowledge in the areas of photography, video (capture, treatment, storage,…), and image analysisRelational Database Management (SMART-lab, Lab 4.0).
