Volvo Technical Advisor

The Volvo Technical Advisor will provide expert technical support and guidance to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the Volvo fleet of trucks. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting complex issues, conducting training sessions, and offering on-site support to optimize the performance and reliability of our fleet.





ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide expert technical assistance to service technicians regarding Volvo truck systems and components across 4 workshop sites.

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in Volvo trucks.

  • Road test vehicles to identify faults and to confirm repairs.

  • Conduct training sessions for service technicians and other staff on the latest Volvo truck technologies, repair techniques, and maintenance practices.

  • Develop and implement effective repair strategies to address identified issues.

  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of service.

  • Communicate effectively with technicians to understand their technical concerns and provide clear, concise, and accurate information.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with operating unit by delivering exceptional service and support.

  • Develop training materials and programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of workshop personnel.

  • Maintain detailed records of technical issues, solutions provided to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation.

  • Prepare technical reports and summaries for management and other stakeholders.

  • Offer practical solutions to technical problems related to heavy trucks used in operations.

  • Promote a culture of safety among staff.

  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

  • Suggest and implement approved improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the workshop.

  • Ensure that all activities and operations comply with the company’s RSPO and OH&S policies and procedures.






COMPETENCY:


To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:



  • Strong technical knowledge of light and heavy vehicle systems.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.

  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.






EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.

  • Certifications: Trade qualified Vehicle Mechanic (HE) with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Computer Skills: up to date with relevant mechanical diagnostic tools as well as proficient in the use of Microsoft products such as Power Point, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Driver’s license: Class 4 and Class 6

  • Ability to work in a workshop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other elements.
