Job Description:

As a VTOL Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and integration of VTOL systems onto the existing fixed-wing aircraft platform. You will leverage your extensive experience with VTOL quadcopters and fixed-wing VTOL aircraft to create robust and reliable solutions. This role requires a blend of design expertise, practical implementation skills, and a willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities:

  • VTOL System Design & Integration: Design and integrate VTOL modules onto fixed-wing aircraft platforms, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Hands-on Development: Build, assemble, and test VTOL systems, including mechanical and electrical components.
  • System Optimization: Analyze flight data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize VTOL system performance.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to VTOL systems, both in the lab and in the field.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of VTOL systems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and operational procedures.
  • Travel: Travel to our operations in Denmark several times per year for short durations to support development and testing activities.
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations related to drone operations and testing.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the aerospace or drone industry.
  • Proven experience working with VTOL quadcopters.
  • Mandatory: Extensive experience working with fixed-wing aircraft equipped with VTOL modules.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics, propulsion systems, and flight control systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor).
  • Experience with electrical systems and wiring.
  • Familiarity with flight testing and data analysis.
  • Experience with drone flight controllers and related software.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with composite materials and fabrication.
  • Experience with autonomous flight systems.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance for drone operations.
