Warehouse Operations Manager
Overview
- Run a party rental warehouse, and develop warehouse operations systems.
- Create smooth processes from office to warehouse.
- Determine product handling and storage requirements; develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures; refine processes for receiving product, picking, packing, routing, returning, equipment utilization, inventory management, and trucking; on-going education of warehouse staff.
Warehouse
General
- Recruit, select, train, schedule, and coach WH employees. Communicate job expectations; conduct employee reviews; enforce policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive working environment with an emphasis on communication.
- Maintain floor authority and set the working pace and daily work expectations.
- Participate in creating strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends.
- Develop warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment and procedures.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; comply with legal regulations.
Specific
- Ongoing evaluation and improved use of existing software, evaluate new software
- Determine WH workflow based on work load, schedule labor to complete tasks
- Update Job/Labor board daily
- Oversee department assignments; returns/unpacking; cleaning of returned product; re-stocking; picking; prepping; truck packing and check for accuracy
- EOD leave next day driver and labor assignments
- Ongoing Inventory projects
- Asses and refine work flow in each step of the process from Account Manager communication to final re-stock
- Facilitate equipment maintenance including Dishwasher, Washing Machines, Dryers, Press
- Vehicle Fleet Operations including routine registration, DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, as needed maintenance
- On-call responsibility
- Order supplies
Routing
Support SDPR general business operations by routing, sequencing, managing driver resources, and delivering outstanding Customer Service while controlling Operational Expenses. Interface with multiple contacts as necessary including: Senior Management, Customer Service, Delivery Team and Clients. Strong decision making and organizational skills while exercising independent judgment and discretion.
- Coordinate delivery, returns and reruns, assign/reassign drivers and helpers
- Oversee Dispatch
- Communicate directly with Operations, Account Mangers, and Transportation staff
- Ensure that all calls for vehicle repair and maintenance are handled in a timely fashion
- With Dispatch, develop optimum routes that minimize driver/helper costs, route efficiency, fuel cost, and meet pickup or delivery windows
- Problem solve delivery/pick up issues including product shortages
- Maintain and evaluate daily logs for errors or violations of DOT or internal company requirements
- Reconcile Projected versus Actual route data
- Understand route specifics, Dance Floor installation, Platform installation, Kitchen Equipment setup and Propane certification
- Adhere to D.O.T. regulations
- Prepare Delivery & P/U Invoices and documents
Dispatch
- Dispatch Drivers and Driver Helpers
- Track and supervise drivers while en route
- Assist drivers with route schedules, delivery problems and logistics in the States of New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania
- Monitor Company routing software and check with drivers to find out if they are having difficulties making deliveries or pickups, reassign and redirect routing as necessary
- Demonstrate good oral and written communications skills via telephone/radio with Co-workers and Clients
- Adjust delivery and pick up sequences on routes to achieve site location time constraints
- Adjust route departure times based on daily loading activity and traffic/weather conditions
Education
- BA or equivalent experience
Experience
- Previous experience working in Events, Catering, Rentals and / or Warehouse Logistics
