Location: HOUSTON Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm M-F Pay Rate: $22.55– $24.14 Job Description Summary: Set up, operate, or tend welding and/or robotic machines to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate and set-up all welding equipment with minimal instruction. Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Fabricate, join, and/or repair equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using MIG and/or Robotic welding techniques. Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits. Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly. Prepare all material surfaces to be welded. Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications. Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, remove rough spots, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years’ experience in welding Must be able to read shop drawings and instructions; to accurately use and read measuring tools Work in a fast-paced environment in order to keep up with production requirements Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
