Welding Inspector II
Functions and Responsibilities: • Read and interpret complex drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols • Ability to interpret welding code specifications • Weld inspection tool usage: fillet gauge, V-WAC gauge, combination square, protractor, caliper, tape measure, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, temperature crayon, borescope • Ability to learn how to determine welding requirements for Estimating and Sales • Ability to answer welding-related questions or know where to direct questions • Fully inspect weldments and sub-weldments • Document results of inspections, including VT reports and weld maps • Communicate welding nonconformances to Welding Supervisor, Welding Trainer, Welder Development Coordinator, Lead Weld Inspector • Maintain material certifications and inspection documentation • Label nonconforming parts • Use calibrated measuring equipment where applicable • Follow all safety procedures • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required • Good verbal and written communication skills is required Education: • GED/High School Diploma/Technical Degree Experience: • 1-3 Years welding and/or • 3-5 Years welding inspection experience • 1-2 Years of dimensional inspection experience Specialized Experience: • AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II - o Ability to be certified to ASNT VT Level II in-house within 30 days of hire Physical Demands: The physical demands described below are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
