Welding Inspector - Night Shift

Skills and Requirements:
- Must have at least 5 years of structural steel experience
- Understanding of welding inspection and structural steel
- Familiarity with drawings, codes, and standards
- Familiarity with visual and dimensional inspections of structural steel
- Familiarity with SMAW, SAW, FCAW, GMAW welding processes
- Certification or experience with Blasting and Coating Inspection,
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Interpret structural drawings, codes, and standards with occasional assistance from higher qualified inspectors.
- Verify that the welding performed is performed in conformance to the applicable welding procedure.
- Verify that welders, welding operators, and tack welders are qualified to perform the welds that they are assigned and that they are qualified in the position of welding.
- Provide notification to quality management and to production supervision when evidence the welder’s or welding operator’s work does not conform to the requirements of the applicable standard.
- Inspects fabricated materials and products for conformance to drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Ensures fabricated materials and products are in accordance with drawings, codes, and standards.
- Witness testing of the welder tests and/or welding operator qualification tests.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Must maintain an attendance record of 90% or better.
- OSHA 10 certification
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to constantly work in various indoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions.
- Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to carry a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching forward, balancing, feeling, object handling, simple hand grasping, firm hand grasping, and operating controls will be required.
- Regular sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching will be required.
- Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
