Working Construction Foreman, Lead, Crew Leader

Construction Working Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily operations on a construction site, directly supervising a crew of workers, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans, by managing schedules, assigning tasks, quality checking work, and resolving on-site issues while maintaining adherence to safety regulations and budget constraints; requiring a strong understanding of construction methods, blueprints, and the ability to lead and train a team. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:

    • Review construction plans and blueprints to understand project requirements. 
    • Develop and manage daily work schedules for the crew, allocating tasks based on priorities. 
    • Monitor project progress against timelines and budget, identifying potential delays and proposing solutions. 
    • Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth workflow. 
  • Crew Supervision:

    • Hire, train, and supervise construction workers, assigning tasks based on skills and experience. 
    • Conduct safety briefings and enforce safety protocols on site. 
    • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new crew members. 
    • Address performance issues and provide feedback to team members. 
  • Quality Control:

    • Perform regular quality checks on work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications. 
    • Identify and address any quality issues promptly. 
    • Inspect materials and equipment to ensure proper functionality. 
  • Site Management:

    • Manage the use of construction equipment and tools, ensuring proper maintenance and operation. 
    • Coordinate material deliveries and inventory management. 
    • Maintain a clean and organized worksite. 
    • Address and resolve on-site issues and conflicts. 
  • Reporting and Communication:

    • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, including updates on work completed, challenges faced, and projected timelines. 
    • Communicate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. 
    • Report any safety concerns or incidents to appropriate authorities. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Construction Knowledge:

    Extensive experience in various construction trades and a thorough understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations. 

  • Leadership Skills:

    Ability to motivate and manage a team, delegate tasks effectively, and make prompt decisions on-site. 

  • Technical Skills:

    Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction plans, and technical documents. 

  • Communication Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly to crew members and project stakeholders. 

  • Problem-Solving Skills:

    Ability to analyze issues, identify solutions, and resolve problems quickly on the construction site. 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Several years of experience as a lead worker or skilled tradesperson in the construction industry 
  • Relevant certifications or licenses may be required depending on the region and project type
