Wyoming PBS Broadcast Field Technician
Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Travels to tower sites to respond to outages and identify and repair issues or setuprepair requests with contractors.2. Maintain all maintenance records at each tower site.3. Perform maintenance on generators, battery power systems and telecommunicationsequipment.4. Maintains essential parts inventory, ensuring critical parts are available in case ofequipment failure.5. Provides support to studio and field productions as needed.6. Operate within the framework established by CWC’s policies, procedures, and practices.7. Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned.Position SpecificationsMinimum QualificationsEducation Associate’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education. Experience 3 years in the broadcast industry or related field. Licenses/Certifications Valid driver’s license. Wyoming Low Voltage Technician license preferred. Equivalency Statement Equivalent combinations of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Desired Qualifications Wyoming Low Voltage Technician license preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities1. Knowledge of broadcast transmitters and/or TV translators preferred.2. Knowledge of digital microwave transmission systems preferred.3. Knowledge of DC power distribution and battery systems preferred.4. Knowledge of backup generator systems and/or automatic transfer switches preferred.5. Knowledge of communication towers, grounding systems and building maintenancepreferred.6. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.7. Knowledge of and skills in the use of computers and software applications including, MSWindows / Office.8. Ability to relate with a diverse population in a professional, helpful manner.9. Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completionwith attention to detail.10. Ability to work independently while supporting a team effort.11. Physical Requirements Tasks require a variety of physical activities, which generally involve muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching and light lifting. Regular talking, hearing and seeing are required in the normal course of performing the job. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity is required to perform some essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking, and creative problem-solving. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Environmental Conditions Work is performed in the field at remote sites throughout the state of Wyoming. Extensive travel is required (approximately 80%) and some evening/weekend work. Work is performed under limited supervision. Work must sometimes be performed under extreme weather conditions including the use of a snow-cat to access remote sites.
